A Really Big Thanks

Hi everyone i would just like to say a really big thanks to all our friends, brothers and sisters who sent cards of condolences, and for your kind thoughts and prayers for Pat and I and the family at this sad time. And to the congregation of Bethel Baptist Church and David Laverty and family for suppoting us on the day of the funeral.

Those who didn't know my father-in-law Alfie, he was a fun-loving man, kind, and also a very caring and loving man, who would do anyone a good turn, although his last months were not good he asked the Lord to forgive him and accepted Jesus as His Saviour and was a saved man before his appointed time. Praise the Lord for his tender love and mercy.....Amen

Alfie was my friend and as far as i'm concerned my father, i will miss you for your time and always good advice when i was troubled, you will always be in our hearts and minds. Until we meet again across that great divide God bless you big fella....Amen

The Lost Chord

Hi i just want to share the words of this old poem/song written in 1846 by a lady called
Adelaide A. Procter, all i've found out so far is that she wrote this and a gentleman by the name of Arthur S. Sullivan wrote the music to it in 1876. If any of you could give me further information would you let me know please.

The Lost Chord

Seated one day at the organ, i was weary and ill at ease,
And my fingers wandered idly over the noisy keys;
I know not what i was playing, Or what i was dreaming then,
But i struck one chord of music,
Like the sound of a great Amen,
Like the sound of a great Amen.

It flooded the crimson twilight, Like the close of an angel's psalm,
And it lay on my fevered spirit, With a touch of infinite calm,
It quieted pain and sorrow, Like love overcoming strife,
It seemed the harmonious echo from our discordant life,
It linked all the perplexed meanings into one perfect peace,
And trembled away into silence, As if it were loth to cease;
I have sought but i seek it vainly, That one lost chord devine,
Which came from the soul of the organ, And entered into mine.

It may be that death's bright angel will speak in that chord again;
It may be that only in Heaven i shall hear that great Amen.
It may be that death's bright angel will speak in that chord again;
It may be that only in Heaven i shall hear that great Amen.

Tell Me Who This Is and Which One

This should keep you thinking for a wee while, or are you as good as you think.

How Blessed We Are

If you have food in the refridgerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you attend a church meeting, without fear, harassment, arrest, torture or death, You are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug him or her or touch him or her on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer a healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a bouble blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Well Hello Folks, Top o The Mornin Ta Ye

Well would you Adam & Eve it!!!

Childish Things

As a child i played with childish things, and as i became a man i put aside my childish things. But as in all men we still like to behave like children.

I suppose the same can be said of a lost sinner, as such we enjoyed being in the same company and not one thought of the consequences of our actions; concerning our souls or our eternity. Then you become a born again Christian and suddenly aware of the precious gifts the Lord as bestowed upon us, then we try to put aside our sinful nature. But because we are weak in the flesh, sometimes like a naughty child who still wants childish things we slip, but thanks be to God and the word of God and the Holy Spirit who convicts us when we step out of line we get right back on track. As a saved person through the precious blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ, i give glory and praise to my God for keeping me on the narrow path.....Amen!

Anniversary

Solomon in all his splender can't compare with these roses, and the beauty of these roses can't compare to you my darling. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary and remember back when we first met, i look at you my love and tell you that you have grown more lovely to me than any flower that our precious Lord has created. So my love i give God thanks for these years and pray for many more to come, Happy anniversary my darling xxxxxxxxxxxx. May God bless you and our union always....Amen.

Saturday 9 June 2007

This is Gale a life-long friend of ours i would like to ask for prayers for this woman as she is very ill with amongst other things kidney failure. She has a good heart but sadly she isn't saved, and seems to have alienated herself through whatever reason from her family. So please pray for Gale that she comes to know the lord before her appointed time.

Testimony of Faith

Did you know that there are 225 testimonies of faith in the bible, ranging from 1 Chronicles through to Revelations. What is a testimony of faith? Well as i see it we as Christians (born again), through the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ should give it willingly as Jesus gave his for us. Each one of us has a different testimony of life, trajedy, love and our sinful ways in which we lived our lives; and when you stand in front of people who are saved or unsaved there is always someone who can relate to your life. The one thing in our testimonies we can all who are saved end our story with, and that is that we have Christ in our lives and the gift of eternal life through him that died for us at Calvary.

Oh brethren, if Jesus or the Apostles had kept themselves quiet and did nothing, (Where would we be now) Jesus didn't keep quiet and as we are little Christs, surely we should speak out loud our testimonies of faith. You never know who through your story might bring them to know the Lord as we do......Amen.

The Good Root

My wife Pat likes to work in the garden, "Is'nt the garden flourishing well this year", she said. And i looked and agreed and said aye it is. Pat reckons that if a plant as a strong root, good soil, and T.L.C then you will get good results. It reminded me of what Jesus said about the vine,
I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and i in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15-5
It is true of us as Christians, when we ask Jesus into our hearts and truly repent we become a good strong root, and as we learn about Him and the Father our roots become strong stems, and when we do good works wether through prayer or preaching, staying faithful and loyal to our Lord; then we flourish and give forth good fruits in His name....Amen

An Unseen Trap

This morning i went outside into the back garden, and for the third time this week i walked into an unseen spiders web. And a thought came to me, satan's traps along the way are like this web, unseen until we walk right into them; temptations take on many forms and sometimes we would be vulnerable to fall into the traps. Anyway as i wiped the web from me it reminded me to neither look to the left or the right, but to keep my eyes upon the cross and to trust only on the Lord Jesus Christ and his promise to be with us always even to the end of the world.

As a bible believing Christian i give thanks and glory to my God for His word and my salvation through His son our Lord Jesus Christ for being my saviour and protector in times when the devil tries to trap us. As we know Satan tried to tempt our Lord in the desert with many things at a time when the devil thought Jesus was weak and vulnerable, and that seems to be when he attacks us as Christians; but like Jesus we can turn these attacks into victories for the Lord by saying get thee hence in the name of our Lord Jesus.....Amen.

The saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Though shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt though serve. Matthew 4-10

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. Matthew 4-11

The light of life

When i wake in the night and it's still dark, and being still sleepy, i find myself fumbling my way in the darkness to the bathroom. Eventually i get there and as my eyes become adjusted, i see more and make my way back to the comfort of my bed.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. John 1 verse 4

And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1 verse 5

As sinners without knowing Christ we fumbled through the darkness searching for the light, and as you go along you trip and fall sometimes. Then suddenly you find the light-switch and there is light, everything becomes clearer and as you grow in the faith the light gets brighter and we become more confident and stronger for the Lord.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8 verse 12

Until the time that you repent of our sins and accept the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart you will not see the light, you will be stumbling through life not knowing where you are going or when or were you will fall. Turn to Jesus let him wash you clean with his blood and gain salvation, for in Jesus is life eternal with God.....Amen

A Prayer Request

As a born again believing Christian i know that i must strive to be like our Lord, but as i'm born of flesh i know that Jesus was the only one that was perfect and without sin, and that i am not perfect and that i because being human i'm still a sinner. I have a special request to ask all bible-believing Christians, and that although i have prayed to Jesus for help i need your prayers as well. Please pray for me as i endevour to stop smoking, as my health as somewhat deteriated due to my own failing and weakness. So brethren it's with humility i ask you for help in prayer, may God bless you all and keep you safe....Amen

"On My Father's Side"

When Jesus was twelve years old he went with Joseph and mary to Jerusalem, and when rerturning home Joseph and Mary could not find Him anywhere to be seen so they returned to Jerusalem only to find Jesus in the temple in the midst of teachers both asking questions and hearing answers.

And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. Luke 2:45-49

Here are some of the questions they might have asked, and the answers He might have given.

What is your name?
On my mother's side, it is Jesus. On my Father's side, Emmanuel.

Where are you from?
On my mother's side, I was born in Bethlehem. On my Father's side, I came from the portals of glory.

How old are you?
On my mothers side, i am twelve years old. On my Father's side, I am everlasting to everlasting.

What religion are you?
On my mother's side, I am a Jew from the house of David. On my Father's side--before Abraham was, I am.

Do you think you will ever amount to anything?
On my mother's side, I will be despised and rejected. On my Father's side, I will, throughout eternity, be worshipped and adored.

What are your plans?
On my mother's side, I will go to the cross and die. On my Father's side, after three days in the tomb I will burst forth.

How will we know you?
On my mother's side, you will see the nail prints in my hands and feet. On my Father's side, I will be seen as a Lamb standing as if it had been slain, and riding a white horse with many crowns upon my head.

This wonderful peice of text comes from "Moments For You" (volume 50)

The dying message

Well Easter has been and gone once again, but like the message of Christmas it seems to be dying away into the forgotten archives of peoples minds. A survey was done last year by a media company in England about what Christmas meant to children and what the schools were teaching them, it turned out that eleven percent of children nationwide knew the meaning of celebrating Christmas and an even less percentage of schools taught them about our Lord Jesus Christ. I think that this is a sad state of affairs, that a child is being led to believe that Christmas is all about getting presents that they want, and at Easter it's about getting chocolate eggs. Instead they should be teaching the birth of our Lord and why he came into the world at Christmas, then get presents. And at Easter they should teach them of our Lord's sacrifice for us so that we might have everlasting life, then get chocolate eggs. Don't get me wrong, it's not just schools which are to blame for this but a even more so are we as parents and grandparents, should be by moral duty to our God to inform them.

What do you think?

True worship

In my life i have been to many different churches, Methodists, Zionists, Church of Enland, Church of Ireland and Catholic, and they all have one thing in common; they are all ruled by a governing body called Elders. These people seem to dictate what the Minister can preach about, ie: (If it offends their ears it's a no no), it's okay to mention Jesus and God but preach on say hypocricy or damnation or being born again and anything that touches their concience, thay hate it.

Then you have the sunday regulers, you know the ones who go worship God but look around to see if anyone else seems better dressed or just to say i go to church. So often have young church goers fell away because of these hypocrites, when i was with the methodist church in England i became a Lay-preacher and witnessed this for myself.

Jesus said;
But the hour commeth, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship tha Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him. John 4:23
God is a spirit; and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24
A minister or preacher should tell his flock what they need to hear, instead of what they want to hear, they should put their trust in God through the Holy Spirit for the words at the appointed hour, maybe then more people would come to be saved and know God through our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us at Calvary, and rose again to be with the Father so we might believe...Amen.
Jesus also said;
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. Luke12:12

Give thanks

Before i was saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ i remember how i just took everything for granted, the food, the water, the very air that we breath, i just never gave God thanks for anything. Yet when something bad was to happen i was quick to blame him, when something good happened to me i gave nothing to God in way of praise or thanks. But now both Pat and i are Christians we give thanks for everything that God gives or does for us, for scripture tells us in all things give thanks to God. He doesn't ask much of us yet he is most generous to us, he loves us and tends to our needs ie: He provides food and water, love and understanding for each other, he has also given us the promise of eternal life and it's free! Ask yourself this what have i got in this life, and when have i ever given thanks to God, or have i thanked him for this day. Repent of your sins give thanks and glory for the chance to be with him in paradise, or will you give nothing and let your soul be thrown into eternal torment in hell. I know which one i would chose but the choice is yours and yours alone, please make the right one i pray.

Jesus said at the sermon on the mount:

Behold the fowls of the air; for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

For those who read this and are not yet saved by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, ask yourself this; (Where will you be in a hundred years from now?), i know where i'll be....Amen

Break time at Bethel

Phew it's hard work teaching and playing
with the children

Puzzled

Here is Pastor Mark, tell me what you think
he is doing or saying to James.

Thoughts

Last Sunday five people lost their lives, it's a sad thing for young people to die so tragically but even more so when they leave children behind. I can't even start to imagine how their love-ones feel, i can only offer our deepest sympathies at a time of such great loss and our prayers and thoughts will be with those families as they mourn, and i'm sure that everyone at Bethel will be putting them in their thoughts and prayers as well.

May God be merciful and comfort these people in their hour of need, especialy the children who will no doubt miss their love and affection.
God bless you and keep you all....Amen

The greatest miracle

Every birth is a blessed miracle from God, but our Lord's birth was different because he was concieved through the Holy Ghost sent by God; and yet this was not the greatest of miracles. Jesus turned water into wine, the lame to walk, the blind to see and cast demons out of people who were possesed for years, he even raised the dead but all of these however great is not the greatest of his miracles.

The greatest miracle was on the cross at Calvary, but before this there was betrayal, there was humiliation, betrayal by Judas with a kiss and humiliation at the hands of the Romans. Before crucifying him they scurged our Lord, they mocked, him spat on him and placed a crown of thorns shaped as a crown hard upon his head further, mocking him as king of the Jews.

As if that wasn't enough they showed him to his people and made him carry his cross through the streets to the place of crucifixion, they then nailed him to the cross. The nails that they used in those days weren't like the ones we would use, these were spikes. Ater this they raised up the cross and dropped it into place, on top of this when he asked for water they gave him vinegar. And after all this Jesus called upon his Father to forgive them for they know not what they do. He could have called down twelve legions of Angels at any time to save him but he didn't, if he had we would not exist today or have the chance of everlasting life with him in paradise. Jesus loved us so much not just people then but you and i to go through all that he had so we might be saved. Praise his holy name, repent and believe, he asks only this that let him into your lives and you past sins will be washed away with the blood of Christ.

This is the greates miracle that my Lord and Saviour performed dying for our sins...Amen

Wolves in sheeps clothing

God's teachings are a wonderful gift if carried out in his name, however, it's sad to say that many come in God's name and use it to deceive many for their own financial gains. These people proclaim to come in the name of the Lord and put on a show and make it into a spectacle that hundreds often thousands flock to see, and every time the people are told how great God can be and how they can gain entry into God's kingdom if they give generously. Pastor Mark showed me a DVD of one of these events, there was not one mention of Jesus or scripture.

Nothing said about repent and be saved or you must be born again, however they were given envelopes to leave their donations in and because the believed these so-called men of God they gave all that they could to these decievers of God's word.

The worst are the faith healers who claim they can heal in the name of God, they to put on shows and get donations of vast amounts whilst playing on the misery of others. The Devil knows scripture and can heal, he can also decieve people, the Bible calls him the great deciever.

And there are many out there who proclaim to come in the name of God, who are in fact doing the Devils work and getting rich by doing this, these are wolves in sheeps clothing.

For there shall arise false Christ's, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall decieve the very elect.
Mathew 24 vrs 24

It's hard to believe in faith what you can't see, but it's easy for anyone to be decieved. Just trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and read your Bible and you can't go wrong...Amen.

And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11 vrs 14

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
2 Corinthians 11 vrs 15

Born again

Nicodemus came upon Jesus one night, and said Rabbi we know you came from God for no man can do these miracles that thou does, except God be with him.

Jesus replied to him saying, Verily, verily, I say unto you Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. John ch 3 vrs3

Now the Bible tells us that Nicodemus was a Pharisee, a ruler among his people, a very intelligent person in his own right. And yet he was somewhat puzzled by the statement born again, because the reply from nicademus was: How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Jesus again replied saying, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. John ch 3 vrs5

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John ch 3 vrs 6

In truth what Jesus is saying is that to be born again you must first repent of your sins and ask Him to enter into your life, repentance is the first step, you must be sincere and believe that Christ as come into your life, This you must do of your own free will. The Bible states that those who do this shall be saved and have eternal life with Him in Heaven. Where there's no more fears or tears, and neither will you hunger or thirst, and because Jesus is the Light there shall be no darkness. God loves us all and wishes everyone to be saved, but it's your choice... Amen

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John ch 3 vrs 17

Praise God for all things

I woke from my sleep about 04.13am this morning, and spent time with the Lord and read my bible. And he reminded me to give thanks to Him for all things good and bad, and i read in Mathew 24 (which happens to be one of my favourite chapters), Jesus gives a brief description to his desciples of what is about to happen.

And as i read i thought we should give praises to the Lord for the fact that we can worship him without fear of persecution, for there are countries were Christians are often arrested and put to death just for reading the bible and giving worship to God. For i know that in the last days we who are Christians shall be hated by all nations, hunted down and put to death for is name' sake.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Mathew 24.9

It's a great life for Jess

After a hard day relaxing
Jess decides to go hunting for dinner.
After she's already ate that is

Sleepless nights

Hi everyone, sleepless nights waking up at all hours of the night, we've all had them from time to time. Mine happen more often than not, whether it's aches and pains, stress, or just can't sleep. Mine last night was aches and pains in my legs, at one time i used to be affraid to sleep but thats when i was a backslider in my faith.

Well i woke up last night at 3.35am which i have got into the habbit of duing lately, at one time this would worry me but now that i'm no longer a backslider and my faith is restored i just reach for my bible and read. Sometimes i find it a great help to talk to Jesus about my worries, take this morning for instance, my thoughts came to me about Jesus being the Light of the world, a light to show lost sinners the way to eternal life.

And i said Lord you came as the light, yet without you in the world we would be in darkness, yet he is in the world because he is the Word, so i praise my god for in times of sadness and trouble he is with us. We often stumble and fall or lose our way in the darkness, that is when my Saviour Jesus Christ picks me up and gets me back on track on the road to true salvation. Praise Jesus for the bible my Gods word, for through this does he guide us home to paradise, so Lord i don't mind my sleepless nights as long as i have you to help me praise thy holy name.

So as you see i am a sinner saved by grace and salvation my Lord paid the debt of our sins at Calvary on the cross, not only did he die for me but whosoever believes in him and repents and asks him to come in to their heart and believe... Amen

Then spake Jesus again unto them , saying I am the Light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

St John 8 .12

Thinking back to days gone by

Today my wife Pat and i had our dinner at Pastor Cullens house, and we had good fellowship and a very nice meal cooked by the Pastor himself. While we were talking the subject briefly turned to the subject of becoming a Pastor, he told me that if you have been married more than once you can't be ordained to become a Pastor, but you can still preach the Gospel.

I thought on this for some time, and if you were married and divorced legally in the eyes of the law of man before you were saved by grace, surely with your slate wiped clean in the eyes of our Lord there should not be a problem, if it's the Lords will that you be ordained. Not that i'm thinking of becoming a Pastor myself, but Lord willing i would like to take up preaching the Gospel again.

Years ago i was a member of a Methodist church and i became what they call a Lay-preacher, we would go various places preaching and contending for souls, old folks homes, remand homes for kids, other denominational churches around the country and on the streets, it was the greatest feeling anyone could imagine. Of course in those days people were more at ease hearing about our Lord Jesus Christ and there were great revivals happening all over. I pray that those days return before the second coming because never before has there been a need for souls to come to Christ for salvation... Amen

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
St John 8.12

Testimony of faith

Pastor Mark and some of our brethren at Bethel

I was born into sin and my childhood was poor to say the least, my mother and my father were both heavy drinkers and violent on occasions which i have blocked from my memory. As i was born a sinner i new only sin and became violent myself, and yes a drinker, however i came to know Jesus as my saviour in the sixties and became a Methodist Lay-Preacher. Sadly after a couple of years i became a backslider and turned away from God. Many years later in 2006 i met our good friend Mark who came to our house to fix my computer, we got talking and he told us he was a Pastor of a Baptist church, and asked us if we would like to visit, we did and i discovered that through the love of my Lord that although i had backsliden i had not lost my salvation and not only this but we have gained wonderful brothers and sisters in the faith, and also the kindest, warmest friends also, who we have come to know and love through our Lord Jesus Christ all glory be to the Father on high... Amen

Signs and wonders
The Word of God says:

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom and their shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places. Mathew 24 vr 7

And i will showwonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath, blood and fire, and vapour of smoke. Acts vr 19

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come. Acts vr 20

These things are happening and have happened because the Lord my God says they will, and friends my God does not lie or fall short of his promises.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. St John:3 vr 16

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins be blotted out Acts 3 vr 19
